フィンランド出身のモータースポーツ選手・ボッタスさんから大黒屋光太夫記念館に頂いたメッセージをご紹介します。
ボッタス選手は、１０月１４日に開催されたパネル展開催記念交流会に参加していただく予定でした。
残念ながら交流会には来ていただけなくなってしまいましたが、当日フィンランド国立公文書館のユッシ・ヌオルテヴァ館長がボッタス選手のメッセージを代読してくださり、交流会に花を添えていただきました。

親愛なる日本とフィンランドのみなさん。
私は日本の船頭・大黒屋光太夫のロシアでの経験を聞き、光太夫をペテルブルグに連れて行ったエリク・ラクスマンがフィンランド出身だったことと、彼の息子アダム・ラクスマンが光太夫を日本に送還したということに驚きました。
鈴鹿は、私にとって鈴鹿サーキットを意味しておりました。しかし、今回、そして今後数年間、鈴鹿に来るときは、鈴鹿の親愛なる市民と私たちフィンランド人との間に古くて特別なつながりがあることに気づかされます。それは特別な気持ちです！
フィンランドのドライバーは、日本の観客が私たちを他の多くの国よりも強く支えてくれていると感じています。フィンランド人のドライバーの名前、顔、番号を記したフィンランドの旗を振る日本人のファンも多くいます。私の良き友人であり同胞のミカ・ハッキネン、ミカ・サロ、キミ・ライコネンは日本で非常に人気があり、私自身も多くの日本人の支持者の心をつかむことができて幸せに思っています。
親愛なるみなさん！本日、このイベントによってフィンランドと日本の古いつながりについて理解が深められることを望みます。鈴鹿は私の中で特別な場所です。私はサーキットが好きですし、今は鈴鹿市民のみなさんと共有できることがもっとたくさんあります。

GREETINGS OF MR. VALTTERI BOTTAS AT THE OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION ON RELATIONS BETWEEN JAPAN AND FINLAND
DAIKOKUYA KODAY MEMORIAL MUSEUM, SUZUKA, JAPAN
Monday 14th October 2019
Honored Governer of the Mie Prefecture, Mayor of the City of Suzuka, Ambassador of Finland, Dear Japanese and Finnish friends,
First of all I must apologize you for not being able to participate in the event in person. But I am happy for the opportunity to send this greetings to all of you present at the Daikokuya Kodayu Memorial Hall. I was told about the adventures of the Japanese seafarer Daikokuya Kodayu and his experiences and work in the Imperial Court of Russia during the eleven years he stayed there. And it is also incredible that the person who brought him to S:t Petersburg, Mr. Erik Laxman, was from Savonlinna in Finland. And that his son Adam Laxman, also a Finn, brought him back to Japan after such a long time.
When I come to Japan to participate in the Grand Prix in Suzuka, I must concentrate on testing, qualification and racing. And when the race is over it is time to move to the next Circuit and start concentrating on the next race. Suzuka has meant me practically the Suzuka Circuit and after many years of racing I know every curve of it. Now when I came to Suzuka this time, and also hopefully when driving here during the coming years, I know that there is an old and very special connection between you, dear citizens of Suzuka, and us Finns. That is a very special feeling!
I must say that the Finnish drivers have sensed that the Japanese audience supports us much more than in many other countries. It is not only the Finnish people who come to follow the race in Suzuka who are waving the Finnish flags and giving us support. There are also many Japanese fans waving Finnish flags and banners with the names, faces and numbers of the Finnish drivers. I know that my good friends and compatriots Mika Häkkinen, Mika Salo and Kimi Räikkönen are very popular here and it also warms my heart to see, that I have also been able to win the hearts of many Japanese supporters.
Dear friends! I wish that this event today deepens understanding of the old connections between Finland and Japan – we have much in common in the history and this year we were also honored by the official visit of Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince and Princess of Japan in Finland. But Suzuka has after this a very special place also in my heart. I like the Circuit, but now I have even much more to share with you, citizens of Suzuka. Please, receive my best greetings, and hope to see you again next year!
